The  Harrods Creek Fire Protection District encompasses an area whose boundaries are roughly defined as the Ohio River Indiana Shore to the North, the Oldham County line to the East,  Zorn Avenue to the West and to the South, Interstate 71 to the split with I-264.  The district follows I-264 to Brownsboro Road which soon becomes U.S. Highway 42.

The boundary continues down U.S. 42 to the I-71 over pass.  And then travels along I-71 to the Springdale Road overpass to follow a diagonal imaginary line from this over pass north east to the Jefferson-Oldham County line.  We also provide fire service by contract to the Countryside and Riverbluff Sub-divisions just inside Oldham County off U. S. Highway 42.

The district is made up primarily of contemporary residential dwellings, although there are two nursing homes and a twelve story condominium complex within the district.  There are some strip mall type shopping centers and many churches in the area.  Interstate 71 and I-264 are also encompassed in part of the boundaries.

Class 3 fire protection and what it means to the community
The Insurance Services Office (ISO) rates the fire protection provided by HCFD as one of the best in the state. We are rated by ISO as a class 3 fire department, which allows for the lowest possible INSURANCE rating for residential dwellings in our district.  Fire departments are rated on an industry standard with a rating of one being the best possible fire protection to ten which would mean no fire protection available.  ISO considers response times, amount of loss onset by fires in the district, equipment, staffing, water supply, etc. when rating a fire department.

Prospect KY

The City of Prospect,  a fourth class city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is a large part of the Harrods Creek Fire Protection District.  Prospect Mayor Lonnie Falk has developed an  extensive web site where you can learn about city news, events, services, police department, government, and more!  Click the emblem or the underlined words to link.
