         Quint 1257

On April 8, 1997 the Harrods Creek Fire Protection District took delivery of its new 100 ft. articulating aerial platform.  This unit was assembled by 3-D Manufacturing in Shawano, Wisconsin; Spartan Motors in Charlotte, Michigan built the chassis; and Nova Quintech near Montreal built the aerial.
Unique to 1257 is that the final section of the four section ladder can articulate down 60 degrees from horizontal. This feature allows the platform to be placed in areas where other aerials could not even be considered, including 12 feet below grade. This articulation feature also allows the platform to address both sides of a peaked roof instead of just one side with conventional aerials.  The new unit can carry six firefighters, has a 30 kW hydraulic generator, 10,000 watts of lighting, approximately 180 feet of ground ladders, and can pump over 1500 gallons of water per minute.

This quint represents three years and thousands of hours of work by the Apparatus Committee to produce a state-of-the-art aerial that has received national attention, and will take the district to a new level of service for the residents of our area and firefighter safety for H.C.F.D. 1257x.jpg (22242 bytes)
